I was appointed by the African Union’s (AU) Panel of Eminent African Personalities
Following the political violence that engulfed Kenya after the disputed December 2007 General Election, international mediation by the African Union’s (AU) Panel of Eminent African Personalities, comprising
- Late Former UN Secretary General Koffi Annan – Chair
- Late Former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mkapa
- Graca Machel
brought the two parties the Government – Party of National Unity (PNU) and the Opposition – Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) into the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation (KNDR) forum for Dialogue and Mediation. The overall goal of the KNDR process was to achieve sustainable peace, stability and justice in Kenya through the rule of law and respect for human rights.
My appointment was due to my previous successful experience/work of uniting different communities and political leaders in Kenya, that I was familiar with the causes of the conflicts in Kenya. My support in consultation and input identified long-term standing issues that had caused the crisis that caused high number of people killed and displaced from their homes. The parties agreed to a four point agendas.
My Role on Agenda 2 was: Immediate Measures to Address Humanitarian Crisis, and Promote Healing and Reconciliation. (refer attached DVD Video and booklets)
- Helped identify what was required to sustain progress and move the country towards a peaceful, secure and prosperous future.

The overall goal of the KNDR process was to achieve sustainable peace, stability and justice in Kenya through the rule of law and respect for human rights.
My appointment to the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation process was grounded in my demonstrated leadership in peacebuilding, community mediation, and inclusive conflict resolution across diverse communities in Kenya. Through my work highlighted in part of my activities and programs on my website, I have consistently championed grassroots dialogue, women and youth participation in peace processes, and sustainable reconciliation initiatives. My proven ability to convene stakeholders, facilitate constructive conversations in fragile contexts, and translate community concerns into actionable policy recommendations positioned me as a credible, results-driven peace practitioner. My track record in implementing impactful peace projects, publishing thought-leadership work, and mentoring emerging leaders further affirmed my suitability to contribute meaningfully to national dialogue and reconciliation efforts.
In my role supporting Agenda 2 of the Kenya National Dialogue and Reconciliation (KNDR) process under the mediation of the African Union Panel of Eminent African Personalities, I contributed to strengthening dialogue structures, technical coordination, and stakeholder engagement mechanisms that advanced sustainable peace. Through strategic advisory support, structured dialogue facilitation, and multi-stakeholder coordination, I helped bridge communication gaps between political actors, civil society, and affected communities.
My work focused on ensuring that mediation processes were inclusive, evidence-informed, and solution-oriented—particularly on constitutional, institutional, and governance reform priorities under Agenda 2. By providing consultancy services in conflict analysis, dialogue design, and implementation tracking, I supported the alignment of mediation outcomes with long-term reform frameworks.
Through effective coordination and policy advisory contributions, I enhanced trust-building, accountability mechanisms, and consensus-driven negotiations, thereby strengthening the credibility and effectiveness of the AU-led mediation process and contributing to the stabilization and reconciliation efforts in Kenya.
